After a year and two months I am single.

I am also incredibly sad and upset.

It may be a while until I post again.

Sunday, 5 October 2014

Here we are in October. The weather has been lovely thus autumnal weekend despite the weather forecast saying otherwise.

Car has been looked at and squares for blankets have been black-edged.

Normality has returned :)

Where has the time gone?

Post-referendum we have an uncertain future but things seem to be settling.

School has taken over completely but again settling down.

Blanket work has been pretty slow but I have time to dedicate to it now. I will update properly in the next few days I hope then service should resume as normal.

Tomorrow Scotland answers a question.

"Should Scotland be an independent country?"

I have already cast my vote as I am a postal vote.

I hope we. Are the right choice.

Square making at the boyfriend's and the fog (known as Haar locally) rolling in. Autumn is with us.

Monday, 1 September 2014

So it's September already!

The last few weeks back at school have been flying by without me realising. Getting back into the rhythm of lesson prep has ment little time for blankets.

I have bought a new car though. The time was found for that.  Should be getting it next weekend.  Also off to St Andrews next weekend. Busy busy.

Added black border to eight or so of my blanket squares this evening though finally.  Five to make before Christmas. Will it be achieved???

Tuesday, 26 August 2014

So this arrived today. It is from the no campaign but has made me realise how real it is now becoming.

Update

So the rows are slowly coming together. 14 needed for each blanket.

More of them.

Fourteen rows sitting in a pile, waiting to be sewn together.

So you tube and I get along well. I'm always seeing new things I want to make. I must wait however as I have to much being made to start something new (famous last words?).......

The first is this corner to corner blanket. I think it will be a great one for huddling under when winter arrives.

The guy doing this tutorial is who I watched when I first learnt to crochet.

The second is this ripple blanket.

I enjoyed watching this as I love the Australian accent. There are several tutorials teaching this pattern but I do like this one.

One last video. Sea of Flags. This was played at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony from the next hosts......Australia. I really like it.

I will no doubt end up either starting one of these blankets soon or at least make a tester.

So I have been out and about in my bit of Edinburgh. I live right near the Botanic gardens and a lovely park called Inverleith Park. I took these photos on my phone.

I have no fancy camera just (as my dad would say) a click and go. I will take it out another time and try some better shots.

This one is actually in the city. It was a nice shot as I walked up the Mound.

Street near me.

Yesterday was a nice day with decent light, so I laid out the first black-edged blanket. There is no order as such to the squares, though some will be moved about to satisfy my own likes and dislikes.

The close up here makes the colours a little clearer I think.

I have already made a list of colours I want to order more of as they look good with the black.

Today's weather is rubbish. Typical Edinburgh Fringe weather actually lol. Poor festival goers often get soaked. The picture beneath is looking into the city and you can normally see Arthur's Seat. I will walk along the road a little when the weather improves and show you the panoramic city skyline I am very lucky to live looking at.

Back to black edging today. Taking it slow as I must have slept funny, my back is very tender. Needs to sort itself as off to see a Fringe show tonight.

Monday, 4 August 2014

I have been getting a bit bored of just doing the black edging. So I did some colour work today.

Sneak peak inside the shopping bag that currently houses the finished squares.

I follow several French language blogs. I can usually get the gist but I know I need to improve dramatically.

Here begins a resolution to plead and improve.

Friday, 1 August 2014

So a lot of black wool arrived today ready to get going with my black edged granny square blanket.

I had it in mind to make about five of these for Christmas presents and one for me.

I measured out a good size on the floor and think 14 x 9 would be a good.    This is 126 squares.

This makes a total of 630 squares for all five blankets.......we will see what happens lol.

Thursday, 31 July 2014

So having the iPad in bed means I have been watching a lot of crafty videos.  Some quilting videos as I admire people that can use a sewing machine, they terrified me at school when they made us use them.

Then I stumbled upon entrelac crochet.........

It looks great. Essentially Tunisian crochet. I cannot start anew project just yet but I really want to.  Anyone tried entrelac before?

Wednesday, 30 July 2014

So my other half's blanket is now finished.

Quite pleased with it. Hope he is too.

Tuesday, 29 July 2014

So whilst getting something sorted on the car I got myself an iPad in the wait.......

So I needed to play with the camera.

The biggest blanket I have ever made is slowly coming together. I sew it together as when I tried single crocheting it together it didn't quite work.

When the man is at work and it is school holidays,  I work too.....

Thursday, 24 July 2014

So I spent the morning (and most of the afternoon to be honest) getting the granny squares third round put on.

I made some new ones....

Then I made 16 more.....lol

The pot in the middle was made by my dad, inside are figures for Hnefatafl (which he also made).

I am currently taking a quick break from making some squares for my Adelaide Crows colours blanket.  Not going to be ready for this season, but next year I can support them properly lol.

Wednesday, 23 July 2014

So I went into the city this morning (after dealing with blood....sliced my finger open yesterday on a broken photo frame and it was apparently too early to take off the plaster...) and bought.....

The six smaller balls were three for £2, bargain.  Poundshop wool is pretty good too.  Larger ball was from a cheap bookshop, £1.49.

So for £5.49 I didn't do too badly.

I have already make loads of middle squares as well as other rounds of granny squares for the black edged granny square blanket.  Photos tomorrow.

Monday, 21 July 2014

It is so hot!  Scotland hasn't been this warm in the three years I've lived here.  I shouldn't really complain but phew!  So humid.  I always got humidity down in Essex but not supposed to be so bad up here, however the weather seems to have forgotten this.

I am still making blankets though :)

My other half's is taking shape nicely now.  All the squares are complete, just got to sew them al together.......all 63 of them.....I got a little ambitious when deciding how big to make the blanket.  It will cover his bed nicely but is gonna take me a good few days to get sewn.  I'd really like to give it to him Thursday when I go over for the weekend as it is a very late (or very early now if you look at it another way lol) Christmas present.

I have also been beavering away making the innards of the black edged granny square blankets that will be going out this year as Christmas presents.  Initially I had planned two such blankets (for each of my brothers) but now possibly more...thank goodness I have the school holidays to get a mass of them done.  I am beginning to run out of wool though.  I was just using left over wool, but that is dwindling fast.

The pound shop do three balls for £2 but limited colours.  I will have to re-tock soon though.

I find the granny square making very relaxing and they work-up so much quicker than more normal blanket squares.

Sunday, 13 July 2014

Well, the summer holidays are now two weeks old.  I am making blanket squares like they are going out of fashion.  Boyfriend will hopefully appreciate them, though at the moment I feel like I'm being pushed away.  Grrr.

Ah well, Chicago Fire series 1 on DVD distracting me and calming me.

He picked the colours and they look good I think.  It's going to be 7x9 squares big so will so far be the biggest blanket I've made so far.

Projects update

The boyfriend's blanket slowly taking shape.  It's gonna be a big one.

The black-edged granny squares blankets in their infancy.

My first ever blanket now finally edged after a year without one.

Missing Adelaide

Sitting here tonight, after reading a post from Little Woolie I find myself really missingAdelaide and Australia.  She posted a street scene from Melbourne and the light and the feel to the picture just felt Australian.  A beautiful place my heart belongs to.

Candy Corn

So I have wondered off of the blanket path temporarily.

I still have several blankets on the go, but amigurumi has become a new interest and skill.......

So I did this in one evening.

Now, after the arrival of eyes in the post this morning (and a trip on Edinburgh's brand new trams) I completed Cameron the Candy Corn.  Pattern bought on Etsy.

I have started another in my favourite blanket colours.
